Touchdowns, True Love, and Titans: Sydney & Royal's Nissan Stadium Wedding
As a wedding photographer in Nashville, I’ve seen my fair share of amazing venues—but Sydney and Royal took it to the end zone with this one. Their wedding at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, was a total game-changer (and yes, I will be using way too many sports metaphors—apologies in advance).
These two are HUGE Titans fans, so getting married at the stadium was basically their Super Bowl. They got ready in the luxury suites overlooking the field, and yes, it was as epic as it sounds. I snagged a shot of Sydney’s dress with the Titans logo in the background and let’s just say... that photo deserves its own ESPN highlight reel.
Pregame Warm-Ups (aka Getting Ready)
Sydney and her bridesmaids got glam in one of the luxury boxes with a panoramic view of the field. Meanwhile, Royal and his groomsmen suited up in another suite on the opposite end. The energy? Electric. I was working against the clock—1.5 hours to capture all the formal shots—but hey, when you’re on a tight play clock, you strategize and execute.
I pride myself on getting a variety of shots for my couples. Some might call it excessive; I call it championship-level coverage. Time was tight, but we made every second count.
THE CEREMONY: COOL, CLASSY, AND CLUTCH
The ceremony was held inside (thankfully—93 degrees outside is a rough way to start overtime). The space had a stunning view of the Nashville skyline and glorious air conditioning—major win for Team Bride and Team Groom.
HALFTIME SHOW: PHOTOS ON THE FIELD
After the ceremony, we took things down to the field, where the Jumbotron featured their engagement photos (legitimately the coolest flex I've seen at a wedding). Now, let me be honest—I don’t follow football. So trying to direct a group of sports superfans on a football field was... a trip. I’m pretty sure I told someone to pretend there was a touchdown on the 30-yard line. Not a thing. Still, they were kind and laughed with me—not at me (I think).
The wind on the field was wild, like a wind tunnel straight out of a training montage. Hair was flying, veils were lifting, and I was firing off extra frames like I was going for a game-winning shot. We did a Team Bride vs. Team Groom face-off across the 50-yard line, some celebratory huddles, and touchdown dances in the stands. Iconic.
THE RECEPTION: SIDELINE SNACKS & DANCE FLOOR DEFENSE
Their reception leaned all the way into the sports theme. Guests entered with ticket stubs for seating assignments, and each place setting featured a mini jersey with their name on it. Honestly, 10/10 branding.
The evening was full of games (naturally): trivia, a newlywed game (which ended in a tie—apparently that’s allowed in soccer?), and nonstop dancing. The couple was finally sent off through a tunnel of foam #1 fingers that read "Sydney and Royal"—a championship exit if there ever was one.
FINAL SCORE
Sydney and Royal’s day was a perfect blend of heartfelt moments, football flair, and fun-loving energy. Even though I fumbled a few sports terms, I hope I scored big in capturing the spirit of the day. One thing’s for sure: this wedding was a win for everyone involved.
To Sydney and Royal—may your love be strong, your competition friendly, and your Sundays full of Titans touchdowns and takeout.
